Hollywood’s loyal Democrat Sean Penn tried to save New Orleans with a dinghy-based voyage that ended disastrously. As the libs would say, he gets an “A” for effort, for, although he managed not to save anyone, he did end up getting himself all mucky wet. If only there had been more loyal and brave Democrats like Sean, to come to the rescue of New Orleans, the mayor would not have had to call upon the president and his federal resources for help.

It probably was no fault of his that the outboard motor on the little boat failed. Then, within seconds of launching, the unseaworthy vessel began taking on water. As they were unprepared for such a mishap, there was no bailing bucket. They only tool to remove the water was a red plastic drinking cup. However they did perform the task of bailing out the leaky dinghy with great gusto, and rowing back to land, as their own hides were at stake.

The best news for New Orleans is that Sean’s reconnaissance mission began unraveling just a few moments after embarkation. Imagine the horror if Sean and his photographer had rescued some poor unfortunate hurricane survivors, and their little dinghy started disintegrating with the victims on board. That did not happen, and witnesses claim that is was very unlikely that Sean’s motor boat had room on board for anyone else, as it was already so overloaded when it took off, with the Hollywood star, his entourage including his photographer, of course, and photography equipment. In fact, one bystander had taunted: “How are you going to get any people in that thing?“(MegaStar and World Net Daily)

UPDATE: The above incident happened yesterday. Today there are reports that Sean Penn has actually reembarked on his mission of mercy and has taken some people to dry land. He obviously found a larger boat. Give him another “A” for perseverance and watch for the photographs! Linked at ChrisCam.

UPDATE 2: There are some really funny comments about this at Wizbang Blog today and another great snapshot of “rowin’ man“. I like this one:

Goodbye, Joe, me gotta go, me oh my oh.
Me gotta go, pole the pirogue down the bayou.
Pick guitar, fill fruit jar and be gayo,
son of a gun, we’ll have big fun on the bayou.
