Anyone know why Mayor Ray Nagin of New Orleans is parading on horseback at the Mardi Gras celebration wearing the uniform of an American five star general? I must have missed something in his resume.

Kerfuffles is pondering just why it is so important for our President, George W. Bush, to make a state visit to India. There have been some close calls with the President’s safety with some other recent overseas visits, and now our leader is headed for New Delhi in India, a country with a large contingent of religious fanatics. In addition, he is planning to briefly visit Hyderabad, where Muslim groups have launched a campaign against his policies and which has witnessed large demonstrations against the publication of the Danish cartoons lampooning Prophet Mohammad.

Flying Tigers Ace, Pappy Boyington Shot Down! Not by the Japanese this time, but fragged by his own.

What can be more heartbreaking to a Daughter of Revolution than to hear of America’s shining star going down in flames at the trembling hands of some cowardly, still “wet behind the ears”, university kids? How could these pampered young Americans whose freedoms at this very moment are guarded by better Americans than they are, shun the memory of a heroic Medal of Honor winner, a Marine Corps officer who spent two years as a war prisoner of the Japanese, who risked his life again and again to save liberty for America and Europe? The alma mater of Colonel Pappy Boyington has repudiated a memorial to him. Will America survive this shameless generation of shallow ignorami at universities across the land, such as those uneducated student leaders at the University of Washington?

In a published piece from 18 February 2006, “Get Thee Behind Me, Pappy Boyington”, the author states that U-Dub “Student Senate Slams ‘Evil’ War Hero”.

Student senator Jill Edwards “questioned whether it was appropriate to honor a person who killed other people.” She added that the student leaders “didn’t believe a member of the Marine Corps was an example of the sort of person UW wanted to produce.” Another student sneered “Too many monuments commemorate white men.” Jon Lee said he “didn’t want to see a campus inundated with memorials.” Student Mikhail Smirnoff strived for magnanimity by commenting that “those who fought in WWII were heroes” unlike, he added, those who fight in Iraq. Director of Student Senate Operations Karl D. Smith thought he was going for the high ground when he wrote “How do we decide who is and is not deserving? We also are home to civil rights leaders such as Gordon Hirabayshi and a major contributor in the eradication of smallpox William Foege, and the Nigerian statesman who worked for peace Alex Ekwueme.” These are what pass for U-Dub values today. Fairness - If Alex Ekwueme of Nigeria was not worthy of a Medal of Honor, then why should upstart Pappy be rewarded for winning one? Thank you Washington state parents and taxpayers for the values you are instilling in your progeny.

Who was Gregory “Pappy” Boyington? Although the students have belittled his being white and rich, he was neither. Of native Sioux and white ancestry, he grew up hard scrabble, something few of the disrespectful U-Dubers have ever experienced. His mother worked as a switchboard operator and Pappy parked cars at school and worked in the Idaho mines in the summer to pay for his aeronautical engineering education.

The ports deal is being opposed by Republicans and Democrats alike, but I wonder what the Democrats who are opposing the deal will say when they figure out who will be getting the job if it goes instead to an American company. From what I have read, the only American company that could run the ports is owned by … Halliburton.

President Bush says “trust me!” My inclination is to do so, but can I “trust the UAE?” Then I read that the “great” ex-President Carter is supporting it and for the first time in history is applauding something that George Bush is doing. Once Jimmy Carter is for it you know it can’t be good.

Not until this most blasphemous name was discovered by their Dhimmi friend on the Internet, Yahoo, were Islamofascists aware that thousands of persons were insulting Allah each and every time they signed their “John Hancocks” or introduced themselves.

Here is a man who has admitted to brutally murdering a teenage girl, Terri Winchell, 25 years ago while, as he claimed, he was high on PCP and alcohol. It has taken 25 years for the state to finally exact some justice, yet there are grievous concerns that he who administered unmentionable agony in his rape and slaughtering of a young woman, may himself feel some pain  The state cannot find medical doctors to administer the "painless death".  Why not call upon some of the many abortionists in California who everyday end the lives of innocent human beings without a care in the world about a "painless death"? Cannot one or two of those doctors be taken up to San Quentin to bring death to someone who is truly deserving?

Press-Telegram - News SAN QUENTIN — The planned execution of a man convicted of raping and murdering a 17-year-old girl was delayed until Tuesday night after two anesthesiologists refused to participate because of ethical concerns.

With the execution scheduled for 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, defense lawyers requested a stay from the federal judge who last week ordered San Quentin State Prison to have an anesthesiologist on hand to minimize Michael Angelo Morales’ pain as he was put to death by lethal injection. A second anesthesiologist was retained as a backup.

What about the relatives of the murder victim? The newspaper reports that they "were visibly upset". "There was a great deal of concern on their faces under the circumstances of some people that Michael Morales would not suffer. They find that to be very disturbing."

Give me a break!  Talk about justice from the halls of justice! Justice indeed.
