Helen and Her Bill

Helen Thomas and Her Most Favored President: “It was so much better when you were here instead of all those liars.” I loved it when you commanded the military and had them stand on guard for that evil Monica whenever we cuddled. Sending legions of lawyers to battle terrorists in court was such a wise and bloodless way to fight and at the same time provide full employment to your law school colleagues.

Highlighting the State of American Journalism, Exemplified by the White House Press Corps of 2006: “Why Did You Really Want to Go to War?” ~~White House Press Corps reporter Helen Thomas asked President George W. Bush, 21 March 2006.

“I’d like to ask you, Mr. President, your decision to invade Iraq has caused the deaths of thousands of Americans and Iraqis, wounds of Americans and Iraqis for a lifetime. Every reason given, publicly at least, has turned out not to be true. My question is, why did you really want to go to war? From the moment you stepped into the White House, from your Cabinet — your Cabinet officers, intelligence people, and so forth — what’s your real reason? You have said it wasn’t oil — quest for oil, it hasn’t been Israel, or anything else. What was it?”
