Retired Generals Calling For Rumsfeld Head:
- Gen. Anthony C. Zinni, who headed the United States Central Command, is now spearheading the campaign against Rumsfeld, accusing the Secretary of falling flat on his face. Coincidentally, Zinni’s attack fits in quite well with the promotional tour for his new book critical of the Bush administration.
- Maj. Gen. Charles H. Swannack Jr who led troops on the ground in Iraq now says; "I do not believe Secretary Rumsfeld is the right person to fight that war based on his absolute failures in managing the war against Saddam in Iraq."
- Lt. Gen. Gregory Newbold in retirement has found the courage to say that he regarded the American invasion of Iraq as unnecessary and is now calling for replacing Mr. Rumsfeld.
- Maj. Gen. Charles H. Swannack Jr. who led troops on the ground in Iraq just two years ago is publicly calling for Rumsfeld’s ouster now. The retired general says that Mr. Rumsfeld had micromanaged the war in Iraq: "My belief is Rumsfeld does not really understand the dynamic of counterinsurgency warfare. I do not believe Secretary Rumsfeld is the right person to fight that war based on his absolute failures in managing the war against Saddam in Iraq."
- Paul D. Eaton, a "retired" Major General, is no johnny-come-lately to the party, as he called for Mr. Rumsfeld’s resignation in March.
- Retired General Riggs who served at the Pentagon through 2004, blamed Rumsfeld for bringing arrogance into the Pentagon. During an interview with National Public Radio, the General finally found enough courage to jump into the fray, calling for Rumsfeld resignation.
- Maj. Gen. John Batiste, who commanded the First Infantry Division in Iraq now is saying that the Secretary of Defense should go.

So we’re up to seven gutless wonders now. No, make that 8 with Wesley Clark.
What a wonderful load of ammunition they have given Al Qaeda and the so-called insurgency.

If the troops in Iraq really are unhappy with Rumsfeld’s leadership, they should all resign immediately.

Jon - Troops are not allowed to resign, as they are under orders until their term of enlistment is up. Serving in the military not like a regular job where one works 9-5 and gets overtime for any hours beyond that. Troops are on duty 24 hours a day.

I don’t like what they’re saying, but they are probably the only people who deserve to say such things. The MSM has earned no such distinction, neither have most of the libs who have said it.
